Standing in the Fire: Leading High-Heat Meetings with Clarity, Calm, and Courage

We all know when a building or home is on fire, it is hot, dangerous and easily spread. The same is true in our boardrooms and in our relationships. It only takes a small spark to ignite an inferno. Standing in the Fire explores how we can each keep our emotions in balance no matter how hot a situation becomes. Keeping a cool and level head can be difficult when emotions become heated. Dressler uses personal insights to illustrate his methods and ideas. The book is broken down into three sections: The Fire, Six Ways of Standing, and Practices. As a leadership coach, I enjoy reading books that give a different spin or insight on individual development. This book however, was a bit too touchy-feely for my taste. If you can get past that, it is an easy read and you will gain useful insight.
